A Syracuse man is accused of sexually assaulting and attempting to abduct an 8-year-old girl.

Oneida County Sheriffs responded to a Utica home on the morning of March 21st after receiving a report of a sexual assault and attempted abduction of a young girl.

Upon investigation, police were able to identify 37-year-old Raoul Baldwin, of Syracuse, as the suspect.

Baldwin was already on parole, and by just being in Utica was in violation of his parole. A parole warrant was issued and he was arrested later that day.

The Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, continued the investigation into the sexual assault, along with The Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, which resulted in the indictment of Raul Baldwin for many charges the most serious being Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a Class A-ll Felony

He was arraigned today and sent to the Oneida County jail without bail.

In March of 2010, Baldwin pleaded guilty to an attempted kidnapping charge, admitting to luring an 11-year-old girl into his home.
