Train Station Named After Late Congresswoman

The train station that the late Congressional Representative Louise Slaughter fought for decades to build will now bear her name.

Sen Charles Schumer and Sen Kirsten Gillibrand made the announcement that Amtrak has agreed to rename the station the “Louise M. Slaughter Intermodal Station in Rochester".

Slaughter, a Democrat who lived in Fairport, represented the 25th Congressional District. She was partway through her 16th term in Congress.  She fell at her Washington residence and was hospitalized. Slaughter passed away last Friday.

Calling hours are today and tomorrow with a funeral service will take place at the Kodak Hall at Eastman Theater at 11 a.m. Friday.
