Poll Shows 'Famous Actress' Is About As Well Known As Two 'GOP Unknowns'

New York - Cynthia Nixon probably should have mulled over these poll numbers before announcing her run for Governor on Monday.

A Siena College poll released Monday morning shows Governor Cuomo handing the "Sex And The City" star a lopsided loss: 66-percent to 19-percent among New York Democrats.  The governor also has commanding leads among self-described liberals in New York City, the suburbs and upstate.

The poll also found that Nixon "is far from a household name in New York." Further, voters think more favorably of the two Republicans fighting for the GOP nomination than her. Although, voters are more familiar with Nixon than DeWitt State Senator John DeFrancisco and Duchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.

As for the race for the Republican Party nomination; it appears that DeFrancsico could be emerging as the so-called voter's choice to run against Governor Cuomo in November. While half of Republicans remain undecided between DeFrancisco and Molinaro, Defrancisco has the support of 21-percent of Republican voters polled compared to Molinaro's 17-percent.
