Auburn's fire department is alerting the public about a potential scam involving a haircut promotion.
According to department officials, a group approached the Booker T. Washington Center to host a "Hair Kut-A-Thon" where local children would receive free haircuts on December 16. But the Center is not hosting this event and is not affiliated with the group promoting it. This group has apparently been soliciting donations from local businesses using a form with the Booker T. Washington Center's logo on it, which they do not have permission to use. In light of all of this, the fire department advises the public to not donate money to this organization.
