Suspect In Stolen AAA Truck Leads To Wild Chase, Shots Fired


A man faces multiple charges after leading Onondaga County sheriff's deputies and Syracuse police officers on a wild chase Monday afternoon in a stolen flatbed truck that damaged multiple police vehicles and resulted in shots being fired.

Sheriff's deputies report that a man stole a AAA flatbed truck during a disabled vehicle call around 1pm and ran through a traffic stop at Shop City, ramming patrol vehicles while fleeing.  The flatbed truck drove into downtown Syracuse, damaging more patrol and civilian vehicles as well as injuring officers and civilians .  Deputies and Syracuse police were forced to use lethal force to stop the suspect, who intentionally drove toward officers and pedestrians.  The suspect is hospitalized for a gunshot wound.  His name will be released when he is formally charged. Officers injured were treated for minor injuries.
