Here's How To Reclaim A Family Share Of The Chiefs

Syracuse, N.Y. - Shareholders of the Syracuse Chiefs are poised to make a pretty peny if they appprove the sale of the team to the New York Mets next month. 

However many of the shares that were bought by a family member a generation ago now find themselves in the hands of the State. 

The New York State Comptroller's Office is now working to match those shares to the family they are entitled to. You can go online to the State Comptroller's website and check if your family has a stake in the Chiefs.

Is you find a relative's name, you have until Nov. 27 to open a claim. After you make a claim you need to show proof that you are entitled to the share. Those entitled include a surviving spouse, children, siblings, parents or other blood relatives.
