UPDATE: Custody Deputy at Justice Center Accidentally Shoots Self

UPDATE:  The Onondaga County sheriff's department says they're investigating an accidental firearms discharge Monday night at the Justice Center.  

Authorities say 28-yeakr-old custody deputy Justin Brannock suffered a self-inflicted bullet wound when he accidentally discharged a personally-owned firearm while inside an employee locker room in an unsecured part of the Justice Center. Deputy Brannock was taken to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to be realeased.  Brannock has worked as a custody deputy for five years.


There are reports of police responding to a shooting Monday night at the Onondaga Justice Center.

Syracuse.com is reporting a call to 911 around 10:30 about a shooting at the Justice Center, and that Syracuse police responded to the call along with an ambulance.  There are reports of traffic on police scanners that a man in his 30's was shot in the leg. There are no other reports as yet about the shooting victim or the incident.  A Syracuse police spokesperson says the sheriff's office typically handles calls at the Justice Center.  The sheriff''s office has not yet provided information about the Justice Center incident.
