The Chiefs Are Poised To Be Purchased By The Mets

Syracuse, N.Y. - The New York Mets are poised to purchase the Syracuse Chiefs and beginning in 2018 making them their Triple-A Affiliate following the 2018 season.

The Chiefs have been the Nationals’ top affiliate for the past nine years and, before that, was the Blue Jays top club for more than three decades.

The affiliation agreement that the Mets have with their Triple-A team in Las Vegas runs through 2018. Adding Syracuse at the top, with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Double-A, allows the organization to consolidate its brand within New York State.

The deal reportedly will require shareholder approval, which would end almost 60 years of community baseball ownership in Central New York.
