Syracuse Police Officer Involved In 2nd Crash in 4 Months

A Syracuse police officer involved in a crash with a dairy tractor-trailer Saturday night has been on the job about a year and had a similar incident occur just months ago.

Police say 24-year-old Officer Sarah Hassett was in a marked police car on a dispatched call when she hit the Byrne Dairy tanker on West Fayette Street.  Hassett was going through the intersection of Fayette and West Street when the collision occurred.  Neither Officer Hassett or the driver were injured.  The investigation into the accident is continuing.  Syracuse.com reports that Hassett hit another vehicle in June.  That driver suffered head and neck pain.  Hassett has been on the job since October 2016.
