Elmira, N.Y. - The Pennsylvania teen accused of abandoning her infant in a trash bag in Chemung County is being indicted for attempted murder.
17-year-old Harriette Hoyt was indicted on three felonies yesterday after her baby girl was recently found behind an Elmira home. Authorities say the child was less than an hour away from dying after being in the bag for more than three days. Fortunately, someone found her.
If convicted of the charges, Hoyt faces more than 20 years in prison.
