Rome City Councilman Pleads Guilty On Fraud Charges

A city councilor in Rome has pleaded guilty to ripping off the state to the tune of 19 thousand dollars.The Attorney Generals Office says Councilman Louis DiMarco Junior lied when he told state officials in 2011 that he was unemployed. 

At the time, DiMarco was employed as a Rome City Councilman. For the next year-  the state says he took in unemployment benefits and hauled in more than 19 thousand dollars. A judge has sentenced DiMarco to a one year conditional discharge and he's ordered to pay restitution. DiMarco resigned last week from the city council.
