Trooper Joel Davis

Syracuse, N.Y. – The body of State Trooper Joel Davis is now being returned home to the North Country.

The State Police Officer's body was in Syracuse for an autopsy at the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office.

The procession is expected to slow down traffic on Route 81 North of Syracuse past Watertown as it rolls through.

State Police say Trooper Davis was shot and killed by Active-Duty Fort Drum Soldier Justin Walters when Walters shot Davis once in the chest. Davis was responding to a domestic dispute that resulted in Walters killing his wife Nichole and shooting her friend Rebecca Finkle Sunday night in the Jefferson County Village of Theresa. Finkle is said to be recovering in the hospital.
