60 Y/O accused of setting his Apartment on Fire

Lysander, N.Y. – An apparent arson at an apartment in Lysander has landed a 60-year-old behind bars.

Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputies say Francis Hughes intentionally set his of Drumlin-Heights apartment on fire this morning. Calls came in for the fire at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday and one observant resident told cops that they saw one resident running away.

It didn’t take long for deputies to catch up with Hughes and arrest him.  That blaze raged for 40-minutes causing significant damage to four of the eight units leaving many residents homeless.

Hughes has been arraigned on arson, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment charges and is being held at the Justice Center on $10,000 bail.
