Thousands of people are without power this afternoon in the Auburn area after problems at a substation in Cayuga County.
NYSEG says more than 7,000 of their customers are in the dark in the immediate Auburn area at this hour, and another 5,000 are without electricity throughout the rest of the county.
NYSEG says the cause of the outages are being investigated and crews have been dispatched to make repairs, and NYSEG estimates most of it's customers will have their power back by eight this evening.
