Baby Penguin Hatches At Rosamond Gifford Zoo

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse has welcomed a new arrival.A new Humboldt penguin chick hatched at the zoo this spring and now a naming contest for the chick is underway.

The zoo says Humboldt penguin populations have been steadily declining in the world with only 10 to 12 thousand breeding pairs remaining. The zoo says it's a leader in penguin conservation.

The new chick will be cared for by it's parents for several week before it can go on exhibit. The new chick hatched May 5th.
