Syracuse Babysitter Sentenced In The Death Of A Toddler

A Syracuse woman has been sentenced today after investigators say she caused the death of a toddler. Ramisi Truitt got 18 years behind bars today and five years probation after pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge. Investigators say she caused the death of a two year old boy in August of 2015.

Police began investigating the child's death after the toddler was rushed to Upstate hospital with a skull fracture. Truitt has now admitted to hitting the little boy in the back causing him to fall down more than a dozen stairs and he landed on a ceramic floor. Prosecutors say she hit the child because he didn't say thank you for a peanut butter sandwich. Truitt was babysitting the child while his father was at work.
