City Hall Kicks Syracuse Firefighter To The Curb

City hall in Syracuse has fired one of it's firefighters who was involved in a deadly hit and run accident last month.

In a brief statement, the mayors office says Edward Ackerman has been terminated from the Syracuse Fire Department following a due process hearing. Ackerman has been charged with a felony count of tampering with evidence after a deadly hit and run on the city's northside last month.

18 year old Seth Collier was struck and killed by a car, allegedly being driven by former Liverpool Police Officer Peter Rauch. Ackerman is accused of helping Rauch tamper with evidence after Rauch fled the scene after the accident.
