Wayne County Man Caught With Gun At Hancock Airport

The Transportation Security Administration has nabbed a Wayne County man who tried to bring a loaded handgun onto a plane at Hancock Airport last week.

The TSA has not identified the man from Savannah, but the handgun was found in the man's jacket pocket which he had placed in the checkpoint bin. The gun was loaded with six bullets and a second magazine loaded with six more bullets.

Security officials confiscated the loaded gun and the man claimed he forgot he had his gun with him. That incident caused the security line to come to a complete halt until police arrived to handle the situation. TSA officials say anyone who attempts to bring a weapon in with their carry-on luggage could face criminal charges and fines of up to $12,000.
