Syracuse, N.Y. - A man convicted of killing a friend, on her Birthday and burying her in a shallow grave was sentenced Monday.
Jhon Chacaguasay-Ilbis will serve 23 years to life in prison in prison for the death of Joselyn Toaquiza.
Illbis pleaded guilty to the June 2024 murder.
He says he doesn't remember anything that happened, because he was under the influence of alcohol.
Toaquiza's body was found in Lincoln Park in Syracuse.
The two knew each other, and were both from Ecuador.
