Krispy Kreme donuts were all the rage back in 2003 when the store opened it's location on Erie Boulevard near Thompson Road.
The party didn't last long as a public IPO failed and almost bankrupted the company along with a new trend called the "Atkins Diet" which limited the amount of carbs a person consumes.
The store closed in 2007 and now has weeds growing from the structure.
Kevin Tampone from Syracuse.com comes on 570 WSYR and gives a preview of plans to renovate the vacant building into a Dunkin Donuts.
