COVID-19 Vaccination Rate Among SUNY Students Now Sitting at 99.5%

Albany, N.Y. - Stae University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor Doctor Jim Malatras is praising students for their efforts in preventing the spread of COVID-19 on their campuses.

Malatras said yesterday that 99.5 percent of students have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have been granted a medical or religious exemption. Only 1,500 students haven't been vaccinated yet and most of them are commuter students from community colleges.

By getting vaccinated, Malatras says students are setting an example for public health while having the opportunity to enjoy a normal campus experience.

Campuses are working one-on-one with those students that are holding out to get to 100 percent compliance.
