Gov Cuomo Says Amusement Parks Can Open Up Beginning In March

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today some reopening dates for amusement parks and other venues in the state.

Cuomo said outdoor parks will be able to reopen on April 9, while indoor family entertainment centers will be able to reopen beginning March 26. Mask must be worn, there will be temperature checks and distancing will be mandatory.

The governor also announced overnight summer camps will open in June if COVID numbers remain on the downward trajectory.

Cuomo announced the state's positivity rate is at 3.58%, while the seven-day average stands at 3.6%. This marks the 40 straight day of decline in the seven-day average.

He said twelve new cases of the U.K. variant were detected in New York, most in the New York City region.

To date, 82 such cases have been detected.
