Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced that 5 more people in the county have died from COVID 19.

He did offer some good news however, the number of new cases was 240. While that may seem like a lot, McMahon said that last week about this time that number was in the 370s.

McMahon said we are turning a corner and "we really just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing,’'.

He said the rolling 7 day average is 5.2%. 179 people are in the hospital, with 37 in ICU.

He announced that the county is out of vaccine and they hope to have more next week.

He also said he was pleased that New York has changed their policy and will allow High School Sports to resume in the state.
