Gov Cuomo Signs Revenge Porn Law

Albany, N.Y. - Gov. Cuomo signed a new law today that criminalizes whats come to be known as “revenge porn”.

Cuomo says violators of the new law face up to one year in prison and , victims can seek a court order to have images removed from online.

“Revenge porn” is considered the non-consensual sharing or publication of an intimate image.

Cuomo says "Our laws have not kept pace with technology and how abusers can use it to harass, intimidate and humiliate".

The governor’s office says this new law is a “key achievement” in Cuomo’s 2019 Women’s Justice Agenda.
