Boil Water Order Issued For Skaneateles

Skaneateles, N.Y. - A water main break is forcing some Skaneateles residents to boil their water.

A water main broke Wednesday night causing the pipes to lose pressure, and dangerous bacteria to seep into the water system.

The area affected is in the Town, West of the Village, extending along the Route 20 corridor to the Cayuga County line; specifically those living on Route 20 (between county line road and fuller street), transportation drive, Hillside Drive, Franklin Road, Clapp Road, Milford Drive, W. Elizabeth Drive (between Milford Drive and Franklin Road), and county line road (between Route 20 and Old Seneca Turnpike).

Skaneateles Water District Foreman Joe Dwyer says that they need two consecutive samples free of bacteria before they can lift the boil water order. He expects that to take two or three days.
