Sidney , N.Y. - New York State Police are warning NYSEG customers that there's a scam going on.
Someone is calling claiming to be with NYSEG. They threaten to cut service unless immediately paid using a prepaid debit card.
The scam also provides a call back number with a recorded greeting similar to that of NYSEG.
Troopers warn residents never to trust anyone who calls you and asks you to make a payment using a prepaid card.
