It's official, the Chiefs are now the Syracuse Mets!
"In many ways this investment is emblematic," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo. "There is a new energy in Central New Yor; there is a new economy. This Mets spending $20 Million to by a baseball team in Central New York doesn't happen seven years ago."
The investment into they Syracuse Mets is a significant investment for everyone involved. The Mets organization spent $20 million to buy the team before last year from Syracuse Community Baseball. They owned the team last season but are now taking over the operations of the ball club.
Onondaga County, New York State, and the City of Syracuse are spending $25 million to renovate NBT Bank Stadium.
