Syracuse Police Search For New Chief Narrows To Six

The search for the next police chief in Syracuse is now down to six candidates.

The city's Deputy Police Chief Joseph Cecile is among those in the running, according to Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens. Current  Police Chief Frank Fowler has made it known that his top choice would be  Cecile because of his long-standing ties with the community. The deputy Mayor is heading the search and will give her recommendations to Mayor Ben Walsh who has the final decision. The city is looking to hire a new chief before the end of 2018.
