Man Crashes Car, Police Find Over 10 Pounds Of Pot

Monday around 10 PM, Syracuse Police Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 81 S/B near the Salina Street exit.  The vehicle refused to pull over and continued southbound on S. Salina Street.  In the 600 block of S. Salina Street the vehicle crashed into 3 light poles, a crosswalk sign and struck the building a 610 S. Salina Street.  The driver, 34 year old Brandon Cooke of Akwesasne, N.Y. ran form the scene. Officers caught him a short distance away. The driver was later transported to Upstate University Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.  Cooke was the only occupant of the vehicle, and over 10 pounds of Marijuana was recovered inside his vehicle after the crash.  Cooke will be charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 1st degree and several vehicle and traffic law violations.
