Del Lago On The Ropes?

Tyre, N.Y. - The developer who owns del Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County is looking to the state for a financial bailout.

Since the casino opened last year, it earned about 40-percent less revenue than projected.  A spokesman for del Lago says that the Nation stopped making payments to state and local governments and are using that money to fund additional promotion and incentives to lure customers from del Lago to their casinos.

The developer was in Albany meeting with leaders in the Assembly, Senate as well as the Governors office to discuss how to rectify the situation.

Del Lago blames the Seneca Nation for it not meeting revenue projections.  The Seneca Nation says this isn't fair because the projections anticipated del Lago cannibalizing revenue from its casinos in Central and Western New York.
