Former Syracuse Anchors Spar For TV Ratings

New York - Network TV News is now a battle of former Syracuse news anchors.

Former NBC 3 Newsman Jeff Glor has been named as the new anchor of the 'CBS Evening News.' Glor began working at WSTM in 1997 and was there until 2003. He is replacing Scott Pelley who was moved to '60 Minutes.'

CBS News President David Rhodes announced Glor's appointment today.  The 42-year-old Glor has been with the network for a decade.  He's anchored numerous breaking news stories, including most recently in the field for Hurricane Irma and in the studio for the Las Vegas shootings.  Anthony Mason has been filling in on the evening news.  He will continue as a CBS News senior correspondent and co-host of "CBS This Morning-Saturday."

David Muir, who anchors 'World News Tonight' on ABC, spent the early years of his news career in Syracuse.
