Drunk Driver Kills Two In Crash While Eluding Police


A police pursuit of a drunk driver led to a crash that killed a man and his stepson

Syracuse police report that officers stopped a vehicle on Shonnard Street Saturday night.  As they approached the vehicle, the driver, Eric Dempsey, sped away.  As the pursuit of Dempsey continued, the suspect vehicle ran through a stop sign at Tallman and Lincoln and crashed into a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old male with his 24-year-old stepson as passenger.  First responders took both victims to the hospital, but they were pronounced dead shortly afterward.  Dempsey was treated for minor injuries and then arrested on charges of manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, DWI, as well as other infractions.
