A Madison County Sheriffs Deputy is in the hospital after he was doused with caustic acid during the raid on a meth lab in Chittenango.
The deputy and other cops were trying to shut down the lab on South Webber Drive when 26 year old Vincent Bort is accused of dumping a bottle of acid on the deputy. A State Police Hazmat team was also called in to try and decontaminate what cops say was a dangerous meth lab.
The deputy is being treated for acid burns at a Syracuse hospital and a neighboring home had to be evacuated because of the danger from the meth lab.
