Triple E Virus Detected In Oswego County

For the first time this summer, the potentially deadly triple E virus has been discovered in a mosquito pool in Oswego County.

The county health department that the Triple E virus was detected in a mosquito pool near Toad Harbor Road in Constantia. These are the type of bugs that usually bite birds and other animals. With warm and wet weather recently in Central New York, the local mosquito population is exploding.

Earlier this week, another mosquito pool near the Cicero swamp tested positive for the West Nile Virus. Health officials in both Oswego and Onondaga Counties are urging everyone to take precautions against being bit.
