County Executive Proposes Redesign Of County Government

Joanie Mahoney Thumb

County Executive Jaonie Mahoney is out with a plan today to make sweeping changes in county government. Mahoney has put a plan on the table to redesign Onondaga County government.

It establishes two terms of four years for all countywide elected officials and a four term limit of eight years for members of the county legislature. Her plan would also return countywide official salaries to what they were when that official began their first term.

Mahoney's proposal would also reinforce the County Charter's ban on outside employment. The term limit proposal would require a referendum if it's passed by the county legislature.
