Syracuse, N.Y. – A Long-Term substitute teacher at Corcoran High School has been released from the hospital after being stabbed by a student Thursday Morning.

Syracuse Police say the 24-year-old teacher was stabbed twice, in the chest and shoulder, by 17-year-old female student Zhuantina Hayes. They say the teacher was trying to break up a fight between Hayes and another female student.

Hayes has been with Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Syracuse Police and the district haven't said what type of weapon was used and how it made it past security and into the school.
