Troopers will be busy watching out for drinking and driving this weekend.

New York State Police will likely be writing a number of DWI citations this St. Patrick's Day weekend. Today through Monday, Drivers can expect sobriety checkpoints, increased DWI patrols and increased inspections on underage drinking and sales to minors.   State police will also be issuing tickets to  drivers using cell phones and other handheld devices.
Last year. state troopers issued 9,763 tickets and made 204 arrests for DWI across New York during St. Patrick's Day weekend.
