State police have arrested an Oswego man who they say impersonated a police officer in February.

Troopers arrested Christoper Hughes after they got a report from the Town of Volney Fire Department about a suspicious vehicle that looked like an unmarked police car.  Hughes showed up at an emergency scene and later told the fire chief he worked with an organization funded by the state police.  Troopers charged Hughes with criminal impersonation and multiple traffic violations regarding the use of police lighting and sirens.
