A dispute between Time Warner Cable and CBS could have dire consequences for Showtime subscribers.

The dispute is largely about how much Time Warner will pay to retransmit the network's local TV stations in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. But CBS also owns Showtime, and it's part of the same dispute. Some 11.9 million subscribers, including those in Central New York, could be without Showtime programming beginning Wednesday if the dispute isn't resolved.
