A Syracuse man is facing assault and weapons charges in court today, after police say he shot and seriously injured his daughter, at the family's harwood avenue home yesterday afternoon.
27-year-old Sarah Brown suffered shotgun wounds to her right arm, shoulder and hip. Despite her injuries, she and other family members were able to escape from the house shortly before police arrived, taking the weapon with them.
Officers surrounded the house and convinced her father, 60 year old John Brown, to surrender. He's being held at the county justice center on charges of first degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. pending arraignment today.
Sarah Brown underwent surgery on her arm and is expected to survive.
Police say a motive for the shooting hasn't been determined.
