A soldier wounded in the shooting at Fort Hood is a Syracuse University graduate and former Fort Drum commander.

Major Patrick Miller received a masters degree from SU in 2009.  WWNY-TV is reporting that he worked in Army finances at Ft. Drum from 2011 to 2013.

Miller underwent surgery, but there's no word as yet of the extent of his injuries.  Miller grew up in Western New York.  Family members including his parents drove to the Army base to be with him.  Miller's wife Ashley is said to be at his side now.

Authorities have confirmed that it was Iraq War veteran Ivan Lopez who killed three people and wounded 16 in the attack, including Maj. Miller.  He was being treated for mental illness.  Investigators are already looking into whether his combat experience caused post-traumatic stress.
