ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ Developers looking to build a casino in upstate New York have gathered in Albany for a mandatory meeting with state gambling regulators.
Wednesday's conference gave development teams the opportunity to ask questions about the complicated selection process that will unfold over the next several months.
Last week developers submitted casino license application fees of $1 million each for 22 different projects. Four casinos have been authorized for the Albany-Saratoga area, the Southern Tier-Finger Lakes region and the Catskills and mid-Hudson Valley.
The Catskills and mid-Hudson Valley have attracted the most interest, with at least 10 groups proposing casinos.
Selections will be made this fall.
