Albany, N.Y. - The southbound lanes of the Thruway in Albany are open again after they were shut down for about six hours after a pedestrian was hit by a tractor-trailer.
State police tell local media that the pedestrian was dead when first responders arrived on the scene around 10 p.m. Sunday. Troopers say the person was hit on Interstate 87's southbound side between Exit 24 and Exit 23.
Motorists heading east on Interstate 90 had to leave the highway at Exit 24, while southbound traffic was prevented from entering I-87 at the same exit.
All lanes were reopened around 4 a.m. Monday.
