Buffalo, N.Y. - Part of the Truway in Western New York has reopend.

The Thruway is now open through Buffalo to Route 219 / West Seneca. I-90 in both directions remains closed from Exit 55 all the way to the Penn. border.

 
Meteorologist Bill Hippert of the National Weather Service in Buffalo says winds gusting up to 50 mph are reported along Lake Erie, where he says travel is "difficult if not impossible" Tuesday morning.
 
A 75-mile stretch of the Thruway from Buffalo to the Pennsylvania border has been closed since Monday night, and travel bans are in effect for much of western New York after Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for 14 counties.

The weather service blizzard warning for the city of Buffalo and surrounding areas is in place until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
