Syracuse Mayor Stephanie A. Miner will travel to the United Kingdom on Saturday, September 6 as part of a delegation of five American Mayors meeting with British officials. Mayor Miner will be in the United Kingdom until Friday, September 12, meeting with government officials and economic leaders to discuss infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and urban leadership.

“I am eager to use this opportunity to promote Syracuse as a global city for the twenty-first century, discuss public-private partnerships with experts in governing, and bring back the ideas from Britain’s best and brightest,” said Mayor Stephanie A. Miner. “I look forward to meeting with officials and experts who lead the United Kingdom.”

A major focus of the visit will be infrastructure and transportation as tools of economic development. The Mayor will meet with officials from Transport for London and ride the Docklands Light Rail train. Mayor Miner’s trip will also include meetings with leaders from the financial services industry.

While in the United Kingdom, Mayor Miner will also attend the opening ceremonies of the Invictus Games, an athletic competition for wounded soldiers. She will be a guest at a reception at the residence of US Ambassador Matthew Barzun honoring service members who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
