Gas prices in Central New York are on the way down again.

AAA reports that the average price of gas here is now $3.71 per gallon.  That is a drop of 4 cents a gallon from a week ago and 11 cents a gallon from this time last month.  The drop is credited largely due to a surge in domestic refinery production - in fact, this month has seen the greatest level of production so far this year.

AAA says it expects the price to continue a moderate decline into the fall, although unexpected occurrences such as geopolitical events and the impact of hurricane season on refineries could impact that.
