The Environmental Protection Agency plans to extend public comment another 30 days on their plans to clean up Ley Creek in the Town of Salina.
The EPA says they got a request to extend the comment period, which was to end August 14. The public can now provide written comments until September 13 on the plan to rid Ley Creek of soil and sediment contaminated by polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) and other hazardous substances. The EPA proposes a combination of excavation, capping and disposal of the contaminated soil and sediment.
