A Cortland woman has been arrested and charged with Grand Larceny after police claim she stole 247 thousand dollars from Ithaca's bus system, where she was an employee.
Pamela Johnson was arraigned in court and released after a two month investigation into the books at Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit.
Earlier this year, the transit system noticed discrepancies in thier books and contacted city police. They painstakingly went over the books and determined that Johnson stole nearly a quarter million dollars, but they wouldn't say what the money was being used for.
Police say Johnson set up a fake vendor account, but it was an account that never provided goods or services to the transit system and that Johnson controlled the account.
Ithaca Police say further charges are pending as they continue their investigation.
