New York's attorney general says that as much as $20 million is available to reimburse residents who borrowed money from two companies who charged them illegal interest rates.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that a settlement with Western Sky Financial LLC and CashCall, Inc. will provide interest rate reimbursements to customers who borrowed money from these companies.  Schneiderman says thousands of New Yorkers were victims of rates charged in excess of the state's maximum interest rate of 16 percent, and that many eligible borrowers will receive refunds of $1,000 or more.  He says claim forms were mailed to all eligible borrowers in April, but forms and additional information on the settlement is available at westernskysettlement.com.
