A happy ending for one dog in Oneida County who was rescued from abandonment and you can thank an Oneida County Sheriffs Deputy.
Back in January, Deputy Alicia Marconi was called to the Windsong- Paradise Trailer Park in Trenton on a call of an abandoned dog.
She found the dog wrapped in a blanket and the dog was attempting to sit up, but was struggling to do so because of sores on her body and a lack of strength.
As weak as the dog was, she still attempted to kiss the deputy coming to her rescue.
Over the next few weeks, Deputy Marconi visited with the dog at the Steven Swan Humane Society and each time the dog would be happier to see her.
On March 8th, Deputy Marconi officially adopted "Lucy".
Lucy has now gained 17 pounds since she was found and has learned several commands, is very intelligent and has an animated personality.
Sheriff Rob Maciol says it's stories like this that show the high dedication and compassion that members of his department have.
